Almost all housing in Mexico has this type of protection, primarily for burglary. We're retired here and we don't feel like we're in prison. A great number of places have a 10 foot wall around them, with razor wire on top. a lot of the older walls still have broken glass cemented into the top of the wall. BTW, the burglary rate is not as high where we live as it is in the larger cities.

Sorry, but no. I have not now nor ever will live in an area with that much crime or the ghetto around me that I would need such a thing on my home.

No. "Protection" Bars- are a DANGEROUS fire hazard. Sure they can keep Crooks OUT; but they can trap YOU Inside- if there's a fire late at night ! The thought of going up in "Flames"- is NOT my idea of being "protected..!" :(
I'd never live in an area where I needed bars on the window, either. It would make me feel that I was in prison.
There's really no need for burglar bars anymore, simply have security film applied to the glass and they won't be able to smash their way in. The 15 mil security glass might even stop a bullet, just don't count on it.
