Will it be illegal to have live electricity on your security gates and burglar bars when you are not at home?

Do you know someone who has done this and will you do this as well? Will it be illegal to have live electricity on your security gates and burglar bars when you are not at home?
It is illegal, i have a friend who does that to the inner gates at his house door , he has normal electric cables , twists them around the gates, the other end is just connected to a plug and he plugs it in every night...seemes like a cool idea to me , fry the bastards i say....
I don't think it will be possible - Eskom won't be able to keep up with the demand. Will it be illegal to have live electricity on your security gates and burglar bars when you are not at home?
I think you have to post a warning related to the possibility of electrocution. The same way people are required to warn the public to "beware of dog"......I don't know anyone who's done it, but I think its an awesome idea! Maybe I'll try it.
I am sure it is illegal it is classified as "excessive force" to protect your property and you will be prosecuted. I cant remember but I think with an electric fence also only allowed to have a certain voltage, not enough to kill. A normal house is 220 volts? I do not know of anyone that has done it, purely because they probably got rid of the evidence when they got home!! so do it just be careful to remove any evidence.......Will it be illegal to have live electricity on your security gates and burglar bars when you are not at home?
Yes.

There are better ways to protect your property.
If we had stayed on in SA we would have done it. We already had steel pool fencing around our verandah, and it was just a metter of connecting it to the mains. That would have shot the bliksems back to Nomzamo and Lwandle chop, chop!
I don't know. Fate has a nasty way of backfiring. The least likely situation could take place, where your wife, your children, friends, household pets gets sizzled.

I know a guy that became so infuriated because his car was constantly broken into, even though they never managed to take the car itself. On one occasion he had a closed bottle of Brandy in the car (for a bring and braai) which was the only thing they managed to take. The next day he bought a new bottle of Brandy, spiked it with deadly poison, and left it in his cubby box for ages. But eventually yes, his car was broken into, they once again could not manage to steal the car, but found and took the bottle of brandy. Who ever had a sip of it would have died or landed up in the emergency ward.

How does one judge that! Considering everything that could go wrong.

Don't get me wrong, I like the idea but I would constantly panic about the unforeseen.
