What is the best chocolate to use for home made candy?

I recently made home made reese cups using regular hershey chocolate bars but after it was melted and got hard the candy did not taste that good. I didn't burn the chocolate or anything. Can you use chocolate chips instead? The bakers chocolate is really expensive but is that the only type you can use? What is the best chocolate to use for home made candy?
If you have a Michaels craft store they sell the chocolate candy waffers in vanilla and chocolate flavors. I use these for my candy molds.
You should use chocolate bark. It comes in large 16 ounce packages and can get it in either dark or white. You can find it in the baking section at the grocery store. I buy mine at Wal Mart. It is chocolate that has been tempered, meaning it will harden just the way you like it and it is very easy to use. It is very cheap, too. Use it to make chocolate covered pretzels and strawberries. You can microwave this chocolate and is also a quick clean up.What is the best chocolate to use for home made candy?
