Hi, i'm looking for some advice on making my own bar in my garage. I would like to have stella artois on tap out there and was wondering what i would need and if the public can purchase kegs of beer?
Any help to get me a pint at home would really be apprecitated.
Cheers.Can I make a home bar.?
yes, the public can buy kegs of beer, but you have to get them specially-Tesco doesn't sell them!
Good project to do, and fun.
For Draught Lagers / Beers:
Professionally we use "flash coolers" where the beer lines run through banks of ice to flash chill the beer. The lines are pressurised with either: 60/40 CO2/Nitrogen or 70/30 mixes. You can use just CO2 also.
You may be able to find a second hand "Davies Cooler" which is basically a portable beer pump with a chilled cabinet to put the keg in and fittings for a small CO2 bottle.
BOC gase will be able to help you there, search them on internet.
As for the rest of it try and also incorporate: a sink with good size draining board, stainless steel work surface, a separate ice well, enough width on the bartop (almost an arm length is good), a fridge and a freezer and an ice machine.
For kegs call a local brewery or beer company. In the UK I would speak to Charles Wells, InterBrew or similar and see if they can tell you where.

Sure, I've seen it done. You'll just have to invest a decent amount of money to build the bar, and get the equipment.
You can get kegs at alcohol specialty stores like Bev Mo, some liquor stores will also sell you kegs (but these are usually only the major brands like Bud and Miller). I believe the kegs will run you around $40 bucks for mainline beer(plus a deposit). Hope you can drink a lot b/c the beer does lose it's carbonation and that's a lot of beer to drink.
usual stuff taps storage bar etc, if you want public to be able to purchase stuff then no, buy a bar or become a landlord, start selling stuff you become a business.
contact your local pub to get kegs is usually easiest as they already have the contracts you as a home consumer would not be much interest to a major supplier, you would have to drink a lot and regularly to keep all the equipment cleanCan I make a home bar.?
