How do you build a home bar ???

does anyone know how to build a home bar? not a wet bar with a sink or anything, an L shaped bar. we just bought a house and the basement is already finished, i want to put in a bar with a back portion with a mirror and lighted shelves. i don't want a link for plans, can someone give me the steps in building one? 8 ft length front 4ft L, with a height of about 4 ft, we have a good amount of space so with dimensions we are flexible. is it a hard job?How do you build a home bar ???

Your question is pretty broad not knowing what type you want to build; wood, glass block, tile, etc. The first thing you want to determine is the height--bars are slightly higher than countertops. I built mine to exact specifications of 2 stock cabinets plus an undercounter fridge from Home Depot. So figure out how many cabinets (if any) underneath you want, plus a fridge and that is your length. You could also wing it and build as you go if you are just going to put shelves underneath. Mine is a glassblock bar with lights behind it and a granite top. I built it myself for around $1400--1000 was the granite top, only 400 to build the glass block.



It isnt a hard job at all, but I would go with stock cabinets underneath, definitely a cleaner more bar look than shelves with a curtain draped over it. And the cabinets give you the dimensions of your bar making it easy. I built a dry bar with no sink to but wish I would have added a sink so you may want to rethink that. I make a lot of drinks but then there is no place to clean or even rinse the drink mixers, glasses, measuring spoons, etc. I would put in a sink if you can..



The lighted shelves are cool--I did that. Used rope lighting and stock glass shelves from Home Depot. Best of luck my friend!How do you build a home bar ???
