21st birthday next month -- at a bar or at home?

I'm having issues deciding which one to go for.

At a bar, we don't have to mix or pour and there's no clean up.

Problem is, the bars around here are expensive, and the big issue I have with it is people driving themselves home or getting a DD - no one wants to.

At home, we can do a few more drinking games and hang out and listen to good music and so on and so forth. No one has to drive home, since they can all crash out at my place.

The only issue with having it at my place is cleaning up afterwards and since I live with and take care of my mom and brother -- it's getting them out of the house or making them behave. They do have somewhere else they can go, but my mom might not go for it, since she's kinda against alcohol.

So, I'm not sure which is the best to do. I'm kinda leaning more towards the second one, but I'm not sure if it's the best idea or what.

And also, any ideas for a 21st birthday? I don't have many parties because of my family, so, I need all the help I can get!21st birthday next month -- at a bar or at home?
just do it at home then pay person to clean up your house at valuable rate..
Here are two options for your birthday-

Option 1: Have the party at a friend's house- one that is open to having a party. Have party-goers bring their alcohol of choice which will lower the cost for the host of the party, and arrange for a few people to help clean up the next day (more people are willing to help with this than you think, and you can buy them lunch or something as a gesture.

Option 2: The Limo Party- Partying at a bar can get expensive and can be dangerous if people are not responsible, so take the danger out of it, and rent a limo. The more people that go, the less the limo will cost per person. The service usually charges a flat fee for a bulk period of time (eg. 3 hours for $150). You can rent a limo and party in the limo since alcohol is allowed. You can bring your own liquor, drive around with your friends, and be totally safe without having to ever get out, and if you do want to get out, the limo can drop you off at a bar!21st birthday next month -- at a bar or at home?
Go to a bar and for my friends 21st, we'd all throw in money , depending on how large your group is and pitch in for a bus or limo..you have to go out though and have fun!
Get a limo! lol You only turn 21 once and you wont have to worry about your drinks at the bar/club because everybody will buy them for you! Limos arent as expensive as a DUI and all your friends can chip in some cash for it and crash at your house just put all their keys in a safe spot so they cant drive home before you leave!21st birthday next month -- at a bar or at home?
Why not rent a hotel room for your mom and brother for the night and to keep the mess to a minimum do what I do whenever I party at my house: but plastic cups that you dont have to wash, set up a bar in the kitchen, fill the sink with ice and everyone is to smoke outside only. If you are worried about the cleanup of munchies and stuff hire a maid for the day after to come in and clean before your mom gets home. or you could have an outdoor party, the only bad thing is if you are too noisy your neighbours could complain- but if you tell them ahead of time that you are having a b day party for yourself and that if it gets to noisy to please let you know and you will fix the problem. I know when i have had outdoor parties i tell the neighbours and if we get loud they call us before they call the cops. cheers and happy b day!

Do you have a really good friend that could host the party? Then you could plan it together and also promise to help clean up afterwards which would make it more fun having help. Also it would be easier if your friend lived away from home without worrying about family. You could get together with friends to come up with suggestions on the party.
I would rent a room for the night, invite a few close friends...bring your own alochol. No clean up, just be respectful that it is a hotel....
My friends and I go out all the time. I am not 21 yet but I can get into the bars most usually. If no one wants to be the DD, which I wouldnt either, I say, hit the bars. You only have one 21st birthday, so do what you want. Staying home and cleaning up afterward is a hassle. I think the money spent on the drinks is the last thing you should worry about. I would be worried about the clean up at my house. Get a cab and either stay at a hotel or take the cab home. either way have fun and do the safest thing possible.
Go to a bar for a bit and then head home for an after party! Have fun........
I would do it at home - because of the drinking and driving issues and because it will be much less expensive. You're alraedy going out with someone on your actual birthday and getting your first legal drink there.
You're right to be concerned about the DD thing...but it's your 21st b-day. The reason you are celebrating is because you can finally drink legally in a bar (I am assuming you are in the United States)...you really should go to the bar...at least for a little while...but have a DD or use public transportation.
set a DD and go to the bar. part of the fun of going out on your 21st birthday is getting carded for the first time, and drinking out for the first time. It will give you a new idea as to what night life is about. And finally, if the bartender is good, there is one more person looking out for you. Then later that night, you can finish the party at home. But go to a bar for the first time, bars are cool.
You have to go to the bar on your 21st! It's like a rule. Try and get someone to drive to the bar - say you'll only have two or three drinks - and then finish the party at home.

Besides it's your birthday - what do YOU want to do?? It should be your decision.

Theme parties are good! I heard someone last week doing a "The Price Is Right" theme birthday party... I was a bit confused until they explained that you can do thinks like Plinko, and where it lands is a shot of things ranging from cheap vodka to fun shots, dares and drinks on the spinning wheel thing, and more. Sounded like fun to me!
To be honest i'd get a hotel room, that way you don't have to clean but just make sure no one trashes the room, and youll have a place they can crash too.
it will be your first time being there right? you should go don't get in to trouble happy early b-day!!
If you feel it is most important, then think about the pro-gramme. Whether you want to celebrate your 21st BD with family %26amp; Friends or friends alone. If your choice is fisrt one, celebrate in Home otherwise go to Bar and celebrate it. But dont forget to take your brother or driver along with you.
