Nice system Maniac!
You only use a sound-bar for a space-limited system or perhaps for a technology-challenged elder family member.
I dont know what is available in India but here is my basic guide lines:
* Get a full sized AV receiver. Yamaha RX-V, or Sony ES or Pioneer Elite or anything by Denon. You want the 'forest' of spare connections for plugging different things into and the power to drive speakers.
* Speakers: Get monitor-style speakers (also called 2-way) made by a company that makes speakers as their main business. Ignore speakers by Samsung, Sony, Philips, etc. as these are cheap and not very good.
* Subwoofer: Budget a lot for a good subwoofer or order a subwoofer kit and assemble it yourself to save money. A powerful sub is the secret to good home theater. You can get by with less expensive/less accurate speakers, but a good sub is essential.
Sometimes companies like Onkyo create a all-in-one system that is good. See link below.
Hope this helps.Which is better sound bar or Home theatre?
Don't know much about the market in India, just know I really like Indian food!
Anyway, the deal about the sound bar is this... In order to simulate surround sound it needs side walls. The way it works is that it creates directed beams of sound that bounce off the side walls and simulate surround. If your room doesn't have side walls like in a case where a living area connects with a dining area to the side it won't work. If you have a nice rectangular room where there are side walls for these directed beams of sound to bounce then it can work ok.
Personally I would never use a sound bar but then I'm a pretty hard core guy when it comes to audio. See my theatre... http://mfk-projects.com/home_theatre.htm I put about $50,000 US$ into it by doing it all my self, it would have been at least $200,000 if done commercially. If you have the space, means to route the wiring etc I would recommend you go with a 5.1 surround system instead of a sound bar but this also depends on you. My down stairs system is very simple because it's mostly just for TV and I don't watch much TV. If surround sound isn't an important thing to you then maybe a sound bar will be ok.

home theatre is better because it has a perfect sound, than sound bar.
