Would a Home Depot welder work to install bars on my house?

I'm not sure what you call them in English, but I urgently need to install iron security bars on the front of my house and up on the balcony. I also need to install a couple of iron doors. Would one of those cheaper welders from Home Depot work? What type of welding is this called? I see all this stuff about MIG and PIG and whatever - but what is basic iron welding called?Would a Home Depot welder work to install bars on my house?
Hi Jose,

You can get a small gasless mig welder and it would be okay for a job like this. Also the work you are thinking of might be "wrought iron". As in wrought iron metal work.

Here is a page about a small gasless mig welder I have on my site. There is a video where I show you what a mig welder is and I also show you the basics to it. I will be adding more videos later on.

You can find that page here:

Without experience you'd be better off having a shop or a friend do it.Would a Home Depot welder work to install bars on my house?
MIG stands for Metal Inert Gas welding and is the easiest way to weld, much easier than the old arc welding they try to teach us back in junior high. However, I would say that it shouldn't be necessary to install iron security bars anymore. Simply have security film professionally applied to the windows instead and reinforce the door jamb.
